From specialized curriculum, focusing on subjects that were created for beginners, the Technology Programs provides in-person courses for ages 12+ and adults. Whether you want to learn JavaScript, Web Design, or Computer Literacy, our courses are curated for beginners and allows you to get creating in the world of technology.
This course teaches you the fundamentals of Computer Science and JavaScript programming, using the Code.org App Lab platform. Learning about programming standards, from U.S. Copyright Law to programming ethics in technology. This course is oriented towards providing a safe and beginner-friendly curriculum for students with little or no experience of computer programming. Through an app that we build during class, students will be able to learn the fundamentals of computer science and the JavaScript programming language using a block-based programming structure.
In a world of a growing internet, many different types of websites ranging from commerce to blogs grow providing information for users around the world. During these courses, we learn about the fundamentals of the programming language Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). This is a beginner friendly curriculum for students with little to no experience in computer programming. Students will also be creating a portfolio website of their own to show off to employers. This course also shows students how to publish their webpages, learn about some computer networking terms, and understand domains and ethical programming standards.
Technology is a growing field that continues to change every single day. With new technologies like Artificial Intelligence, laptops and desktops, and new operating systems changing, keeping up with the technology changes is difficult to get behind. In this course, students learn the fundamentals of basic Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail), external computer hardware literacy, cybersecurity skills, basic technology usage, and basic technology terms and context.
All our courses, both in-person and online, are free of charge! Taught by a current college student, these courses have specialized curriculum that were created to support the communities of Maple Valley and neighboring cities in Washington State. With the support from the Greater Maple Valley Community Center and several organizations, these courses provide students with a chance to learn the basics of computer science and technology literacy.
