These are just some of the tools that are used.
(Here are some great tools to use.)
Microsoft Paint
Microsoft Paint 3D
Switch Zoo site https://switchzoo.com/teach_learn.htm
Using the OneNote Notebook and snipping tool have students copy and paste different switch animals they make into their OneNote Notebook.
Allow them to create numerous examples and have them name them.
When they are done, have them choose one that they love.
Students are given a graphic organizer to fill out about their animal in OneNote.
Every class was dedicated to a specific topic in the OneNote Notebook. By the end of the class they would write about their animal.
Here is an example of what their notebook look liked.
Create a PowerPoint encyclopedia page
Use Picture Format and Background Format to design the images.
Use different slideshow features or save as a movie.
Each slide would be a different topic:
Habitat
Appearance
Diet
Young
Predators

Create a Microsoft PowerPoint Fake News Article
Every year we modify this parent letter to have current dates and if we need to add anything new to it.
All of these steps have been stretched out into a unit. The students learn about the difference between informational text vs persuasive text. They learn about news vs fake news. The students learn how to do graphic design on PowerPoint so they can remove the background of their animal to put it into many slides. They learn how to add backgrounds, animations and other PowerPoint tools. Here are some examples of their front page.
This year we are hoping to extend the lesson. We are hoping to have them use Hummingbird Bits to create a 3D Interactive Model of their habitat.
