What does it mean to exemplify and grow leadership skills in Alpha Phi Omega? It's far more than just being part of the organization, it's leading seminars for members, working on committees, and doing activities to become true leaders.
Members, professors, and more have done presentations to the Beta Sigma Chapter on important skills, such as registering to vote, learning how to make a professional account, and far more. Actives are encouraged to give a presentation on any topic they feel is important.
Every semester, pledges convene by themselves and plan to do a service project, giving back to the Lubbock community. In the past, the Children's Home of Lubbock, Haven Animal Shelter, and cleaning up local parks have been service projects set up by pledges.
Both pledges and actives are encouraged to be part of their committee of choice, where each one runs a specific, important task for the fraternity. We have many to choose, from working on service projects, managing social media, planning fun events for the fraternity, and far more.
One of our primary goals in Alpha Phi Omega is recognizing the leaders in our fraternity who practive ideal principles and prove themselves to be leaders in the community and beyond. To this aim, the national organization and our chapter award scholarships (such as the Dean Jones Scholarship to active members) and awards (both by the chapter and the national fraternity) to support your academic and career pursuits, recognize outstanding achievements in the name of helping others, and provide financial assistance to help you reach your goals.
