One of Hollywood's most famous film locations is the Big Apple itself, New York - as well as cityscapes that capture that bustling atmosphere of an 'anything's possible' type city. With this expansion to Disney's Hollywood Studios - the Live-Action Studio will get an addition never before seen in a Walt Disney World theme park - a Resort tie-in to the land. Disney's Metropolitan Resort encapsulates the kinetic energy of a bustling movie city while at the same time embracing the flair that makes you feel like the 'guest' star.

The Resort is nestling on the far south-end of Disney's Hollywood Studios, deep within the Live-Action Studio section of the park. Arriving 'guest stars' can valet or self-park near the main entrance outside the brim of the park. Entering the main lobby atrium guests are immersed in an open air 5 floor atrium that rises 60 feet in the air. The top peak of the resort rises to approximately 102 feet tall, while utilizing forced perspective, creates a visual that daunts over guests creating the skyscraper aesthetic of a big city.

The architecture is inspired by Northeastern Art Deco designs modeled after famous buildings such as the Empire State Building. As you enter the lobby you are immersed in music from a bygone era; from Frank Sinatra to The Ink Spots. While the resorts design is reminiscent of the 1930s designs that complement the designs of Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards in the park, the resort itself is set in a contemporary time, even retrofit to include a ride-through of the Studio Transportation System within the atrium lobby of the resort.

The resort plays an integral role in facilitating the urban theme, adding to the skyline of Disney's Hollywood Studios while moreover making DHS the 'tower' park, similar to how the Magic Kingdom is the 'mountain' park. With Disney's Metropolitan Resort, the park now includes the Tower of Terror, the Earful Tower, and now the Metropolitan 'Tower' peaking out at over 100 feet above sea level.

Furthermore, the resort's restaurants and shops are integrated into the rest of the land, with locales such as Potpourri Pizza having dual entrances for both the guests of the resort and guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios. To make matters even more unique, the queue for National Treasure: Mystery of the Lantern begins in Gates' Antiques, which is located on the first few floors of the western tower. Guests begin in the shop before proceeding beyond the resort and into the show building for the attraction. Guest rooms with a standard view have panoramas above the roof of the show building.
