Exterior and Queue

Standing prominently in the City Center area of Future City is a sleek blue and white building adorned with lights, looking rather like a neon update to classical museum architecture. This is the Museum of Electronics, Gadgets, and Automatons, otherwise known as M.E.G.A. Outside, its walls are adorned with banners depicting Mega Man and Dr. Light, sure to catch the eye. Entering the queue and stepping inside, guests find the sleek main lobby adorned with signage for “Light the Way: An Exhibition of Dr. Thomas Light”, with a video message from Dr. Light welcoming them to the exhibition.

Dr. Albert Wily

Following a hallway, guests pass a variety of pictures and displays devoted to Dr. Light’s past, such as photos of his days at Robot Institute of Technology and his first-place World Engineer Award. TV monitors tell of how Dr. Light had long dreamed of humans and robots living in harmony, devoting his research into independently thinking robots. They also mention his friendship and eventual falling out with Dr. Albert Wily. Following that, guests then follow into a room marked “The Work of Light”. It resembles a research laboratory, featuring schematics on the walls of robots such as Proto Man and Roll, along with a lab table which displays such items as an E-Tank and Weapon Energy canister. There are even all six original Robot Masters from the first Mega Man game on display, standing life-size in labeled display cases. TV monitors in here discuss some of the robots that Dr. Light has developed, from his early work on Proto Man to the original six Robot Masters to what would be his greatest creation: Mega Man. The monitors also note that the Robot Masters on display are replicas, based upon Light’s research.

Guests pass through a hallway discussing Mega Man’s heroism and incredible abilities (such as the ability to copy abilities from other robots), before reaching a room labeled “The Future of Robotics”. Stepping inside, guests find displays promising new advancements in robotics, including a few that some eagle-eyed fans might recognize as related to Mega Man X. However, the charming video monitor discussing Dr. Light’s latest projects is interrupted, as Dr. Wily appears in his signature UFO. Coopting the feed, he proclaims that all this adulation should be his, and he has the back-ups to prove it. A satellite dish on the UFO starts spinning, as the feed cuts to security cam footage that reveals four Robot Masters coming to life and wreaking havoc: Crash Man, Shadow Man, Splash Woman, and Bounce Man. With that, Wily publicly taunts Dr. Light, demanding all his research or else every robot in the museum will be brought online under Wily’s control.

With this troubling broadcast, guests turn down another hallway, passing by monitors where Dr. Light apologizes for what is happening. He is sending Mega Man out to stop the Robot Masters, while guests will grab themselves a pair of safety goggles (3D glasses) and head for the Vehicle Testing Chamber. There, guests will find his latest creation: a protective transport vehicle known as the Rocksteady. With safety goggles in hand, guests enter the Vehicle Testing Chamber (which serves as the loading area). Video monitors hosted by Plum (from Mega Man Battle & Chase) offer safety information about riding the Rocksteady, as they reach the loading platform and board their vehicle.

Ride Experience

As we pull out from the loading area following a sign marked VEHICLE EXIT, Dr. Light calls out that the exit from the Vehicle Testing Chamber should get us to safety. However, as we approach the open gate (the first of many screens in this attraction), a large explosion rocks our vehicle. Crash Man leaps forward onto the front of the Rocksteady, brandishing his drills as he says they’ve only just “crashed” this party, and that they’re gonna have a blast! However, an energy blast hits him in the head as Mega Man arrives to save us. Mega Man tells us to go as he and Crash Man start battling, with a stray Crash Bomber causing an explosion as we zoom down a hallway. Pulling in among an exhibit of vehicles (including such vehicles as the Rush Roadster and Pop’n Beat), Bounce Man leaps in wanting to play. He first bounces around the room, smashing up the cars and jostling our vehicle. He then wants to see us bounce as well, grabbing the front of our car before stretching back and smacking us with a body bounce that sends us flying.

Sliding into a display chamber with cranes, Mega Man arrives to face the duo of Crash Man and Bounce Man. Amid the fierce explosions, Mega Man gives Crash Man a final burst from the Mega Buster and copies the Crash Bomber ability. With that, Mega Man fires a Crash Bomber at Bounce Man, latching onto the bouncing robot and popping him with a burst. With another ability gained, Mega Man says we need to move. However, Shadow Man appears and throws a wrench in that plan with a Shadow Blade thrown at our vehicle. Making it go haywire, Shadow Man vanishes as we recklessly speed down a hallway, crashing through a maintenance door and ending up in a sewer-like maintenance area. Mega Man follows us down once we finally slow down, only for Splash Woman to arrive on a wave (which splashes us with a water effect). Singing her song, she summons an army of Metalls who emerge from the water, opening fire on us and Mega Man.

Having to retreat, we drive through a workway tunnel as Shadow Man seemingly “teleports” (via projection effect) between shadowy inlets and taunts us. Stopping in front of a water outlet, Shadow Man uses his ninjutsu to battle Mega Man with illusions. However, Mega Man uses the Bounce Ball to cut through the illusions and knocks out Shadow Man. With the Shadow Blade acquired, Splash Woman arrives on another wave and fires off a Laser Trident at Mega Man. However, Mega Man throws a Shadow Blade that messes with her song, causing the Metalls to turn on each other and cut her wave short. With that, Mega Man defeats her and directs us over to a service elevator. Pulling in (really a room with a screen), Mega Man takes a moment to say he’s impressed we’ve held on, but Dr. Wily taunts us through the speaker system. The Robot Masters were only a diversion to wear him down, as Wily has found a way to turn Mega Man’s copy ability against him. As we emerge from the elevator into the Clockwork Chamber (a space of old-school gears and cogwork), Dr. Wily appears in his UFO and proudly announces his “Mega Man Killer”: Enker.

Mega Man unleashes a volley of Mega Buster bursts as Enker, who just catches them with his spear and sends back a Mirror Buster shot that hits Mega Man hard (and makes some machinery near us spark up with damage). Mega Man tries out a Shadow Blade, only for the same response. As Wily laughs, Mega Man tells us to run. We drive away, nearby machines exploding and sparking from the reflected shots. We arrive among a base of turning gears, only for Mega Man to be sent flying our way. Enker appears and Wily flies in, coming in close to tell us that he will finally prove his superiority to Dr. Light. However, a flash of light appears as Proto Man busts in and offers to help. With that, Mega Man and Proto Man team up and combine their attacks to overload Enker. Enker goes haywire and explodes, with stray Mirror energy striking Wily’s UFO and sending it flying straight through a wall.

Driving out of the chamber, we enter an “outdoor” courtyard where Dr. Wily is encircled by robot police, bowing frantically as he begs for mercy. Dr. Light, Roll, Proto Man, and Mega Man are all there, with Mega Man thanking us for our help and Dr. Light hoping that we can still see the wonders in robotics. As Dr. Wily bellows that this won’t be the last we’ve seen of him, we pull off to the unloading area to disembark and head down an exit hallway.

Fastpass Distribution Center

Do you plan on joining Mega Man in his latest adventure, but the line is looking pretty long? Not to worry. Under a shaded canopy located off to the side near the attraction's entrance is a Fastpass distribution center. Three terminals are set up there, with Eddie standing on top of a pedestal next to the middle terminal. Just check in, select your ride time, and then you'll be ready to speed through the line and get into the action.
