Overall Design Process

Due our collective inexperience with circuitry, we went through many iterations and versions trying to make the idea work. Some brought us closer while others did nothing at all. We first made this table to guide us with the logic gates. If everything was zero, then a green LED would shine, if there were two zeroes and one a yellow LED would shine. If a red one shined, then there were two ones and one zero, and finally, if there were three zeroes an alarm would go off. Although there was much trial and error with the implementation, the logic gates went by with relative ease. However, what truly stumped us was the alarm and timer, as we could not get them to work with the flip-flops or the alarm and timer circuits. After going through many different designs and getting assistance from TAs though, we finally got the circuit to work. It turns out that we were using the wrong simulation and the flip flops were doing their job, we just didn't know.
