Giacomo's Ristorante

By DashHaber

Situated in a more worn-down section of Venice, guests can find themselves a charming little quick service restaurant. Though the walls both inside and out may show their age, the pictures that hang on the walls inside suggest that this has been a family-owned restaurant for ages. Seating is available inside for those looking to take a step out of the sun, but outdoor seating is also available for those who want to take a moment to soak in the sights of Venice around them. As for the menu, it places an emphasis on Italian street food, serving up some savory treats with that wonderful dash of Italian flair. It's just the thing to give a guest some fuel as they explore the city of Venice.

La Regina del Adriàtica

By Imagineer Brandon

Villa Capra La Rotonda (left) and Santa Maria dei Miracoli (right), two buildings used as inspiration for the restaurant's exterior.

La Regina del Adriàtica is the queen of Venetian cuisine. World renowned for its atmosphere and menu, the restaurant is a favorite of everyone from high-powered crime bosses to conspiracy theorist cryptologists to suave spies. Beholding the magnificent building, 90 feet in all, it is a treat in itself. The building was constructed in the late 15th century, with interconnected towers, domed roofs, and shimmering spires. Much of the building is a stark white, the result of many restorations, but the domes are crimson red and the spires are a striking silver. Engraved onto the building are several patterns of hearts, raindrops, and laurel leaves. Let’s head inside, why don’t we?

Casinos from Casino Royale (2006) and Dr. No (1963), respectively. Used by Universal designers as inspiration for the bottom floor.

The two-story building appears quite different on the inside, at least at first. The bottom floor is a relic from when the building was used as a casino. Thus, the insides reflect a distinctly 20th century idea of elegance. The rooms are warmly lit, with glistening chandeliers and romantic candlelight at every table. The walls are painted a dark red, with a matching smooth carpet floor. Guests may wish to dine at small, intimate tables, handcrafted from mahogany wood. Larger groups will prefer booth seating, with Italian leather cushions. For the bachelors among us, the Concord Bar serves specialty drinks with a smile.

Michelangelo's David (left), a direct inspiration for the Veronica statue, and Veronica Franco (right), the woman used as the basis.

Up the spiral staircase, the second floor is a remnant of the building’s original purpose as a palace. Carpet turns to smooth stone, the walls made of sleek white tiles. Large windows give a beautiful view of the gondolas outside - these are the most difficult tables to secure. The centerpiece of the room is Veronica, a 10 feet tall Renaissance era sculpture of Veronica Franco, a famous Venetian poet and advocate for women. Surrounding her is a small fountain which runs throughout the day, providing an ambient backdrop for dining. The tables, booths, and chairs of this dining area match the surroundings, with sharp, bold lines and a smooth stone texture. No matter where you sat, we hope you enjoyed dining at La Regina de Adriàtica, and that you'll consider becoming a regular.

La Gelateria

No trip to Italy is complete without one thing: gelato: the delicious Italian frozen dessert!

Guests can approach La Gelateria to see a small stand located in the side of a building almost nonchalantly. A small awning and a few tables in front is the only way this area is even distinguishable.

As guests approach, they can see a large tub of gelato options that are constantly adapting. Flavours include: Stracciatella, Biscotti, Lemon, Salted Carmel, Nocciola, Cantucci, Mandorla, and more!
