Loosely inspired by the real-life Rialto Market, Piazza dei Mercanti (“Merchant’s Plaza” in Italian) is a large store that is designed to look like a variety of smaller shops sharing one roof. Guests will notice this spot right away with its impressive façade, its entrance lined with pillars that support classical arches. Once they step inside, they will find three specific shops scattered around.
The main area that most guests will find as they enter is Renaissance, a stand devoted to Italy’s prestigious history. Lining its shelves are collectibles and mementos rooted in iconic Italian art and architecture, such as a model of the Leaning Tower of Pisa or posters of Mona Lisa. Moda Venezia has an eye on fashion, presenting apparel that is inspired by Italy. Guests can even find some simpler versions of Venetian masks for sale. For those guests looking for something truly special, they’ll want to head to the back where Gemme Splendenti sells collectible gems and jewelry. With lovely rings and necklaces for sale, guests will find something as beautiful as the clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. Whatever your need, Piazza dei Mercanti is sure to help provide just the thing to remember your time in this classic city.

Located at the exit of the James Bond: Escape from SPECTRE, Q, James Bond’s resident gadget man, has opened up his workshop to all spies in the British Secret Service working in Venice. There's also an entrance from the Venice streets next to the Luogo di Levatura with a façade inspired by the famous Palazzo Contarini del Bovoloand (pictured on the right).
The entrance located after the ride experience is at first themed to what appears to be a common tourist-y hotel gift shop with the people manning it on break. But as guests continue around the corner, a "secret" entrance is revealed into the satellite R&D department of the Secret Intelligence Service. A computer-like voice welcomes guests into Q's Workshop and gives them a randomly generated code name.
Inside, the interior is sleek to contrast the Old World style of the rest of Venice. High resolution displays above the shelves showcase top secret information and the most wanted super criminals in the world. The store sells James Bond themed T Shirts, toys, and other assorted merchandise all themed to the world’s most famous spy. The checkout counter near the back of the store is themed to where Q makes some of his most spectacular gadgets. Pre-new continuity Bond gadgets like the bagpipe flamethrower, a jetpack, a model of Bond’s Aston Martin, and a spiked umbrella are behind the counter and serve as Easter eggs for dedicated Bond fans. Nearby the counter are kiosks which allows guests to create their own version of one of James Bond’s most famous spy gear...
Yes, Q will build you your very own spy style watch! At the kiosk, guests can choose the build, the aesthetics, the feel of the wrist strap and even what gadget is housed inside the watch. For gadgets guests can choose between a (non-harmful) laser available in many different colors, a sound player (that includes the famous James Bond theme), or unleash a puff of air. These gadgets are all compact, so it won’t cause the watch to be that much bulkier than a standard watch. It takes around an hour to build one of these custom watches so make sure to not forget about it before the end of a fun day at Universal Florida!
