Computer engineering is the use of binary logic to build computer software. This week, we applied our knowledge of computer engineering to create multiple lines of code for our robots to move, avoid objects, etc. Since most of us have never coded before, this was a new and interesting experience that allowed for all of us to learn and grow as engineers.
Mechanical engineering is the use of numerous materials to construct designs and machines. This week, we applied our knowledge of mechanical engineering to build our own Tamiya robot and make modifications to it so it could fit our goal. Although we built the base Tamiya bot with instructions, we had to figure our how to add the DataBot, double motor, ultrasonic sensors, batteries, and Arduino by ourselves, which meant we had to be extremely cautious of space and careful not to get anything caught in the wheels of the Tamiya.
