In this lesson, students learn about the blessing of our apparel. They also learn about the dress of soldiers in Jesus' day.
Devotion
Deuteronomy 29:5 “I led you through the wilderness for forty years. Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did the sandals on your feet.
God could take care of us the way He took care of the Children of Israel in the wilderness. They didn't need new clothes and shoes because their old ones didn't wear out.
I'm sure for most of you, you grow out of your clothes before they wear out. Sometimes you grow so fast that Mom and Dad can't even keep up, so you may have pants that are too short or shoes that are too long. But in every case, your parents make sure you have clothing.
Some schools have uniforms. One advantage of having uniforms, is that nobody can show off how rich they are to afford fancy clothes, or worry about how poor they are that they can afford so little. Jesus said "Having food and clothing, be content with these."
As you grow older, someday you will buy clothes for yourself. The things you will consider include comfort, wearability, fashion, and things like these. Always remember to cherish God more than you do your clothing. There's nothing wrong with the clothes you have as long as you remember that He who clothes the flowers and birds will also clothe you. Jesus loved you enough to die on the cross for you. Your Father will remember that and also remember His promise to provide for us both our clothing and our shoes.

29 These are the words of the covenant that the Lord commanded Moses to make with the people of Israel in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant that he had made with them at Horeb.[a] 2 Moses summoned all Israel and spoke to them as follows:
You have seen everything that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, to all his officials, and to his whole land: 3 the great trials that your eyes saw, those great signs and wonders. 4 Yet the Lord to this very day has not given you a heart to understand, or eyes to see, or ears to hear.
5 “I led you through the wilderness for forty years. Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did the sandals on your feet. 6 You did not eat bread, and you did not drink wine and beer. I did all this so you would know that I am the Lord your God.”
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can stand against the schemes of the Devil. 12 For our[d] struggle is not against flesh and blood,[e] but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 For this reason, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to take a stand on the evil day and, after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand, then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness fastened in place, 15 and with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace tied to your feet like sandals. 16 At all times hold up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the Evil One. 17 Also take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
