The Beginning Teacher Institute is a series of professional development sessions designed around the fundamentals needed to thrive in today’s K-12 classroom. These sessions were designed to support beginning teachers, lateral entry teachers and teachers who would like to continually refine their teaching practices through the implementation of relevant and research-supported practices aimed to increase student achievement and school improvement.
The Beginning Teacher Institute aims to do two things: 1) Equip and empower teachers with both the skills and resources needed to successfully facilitate a classroom. 2) Provide teachers with a low-stakes environment to collaborate with other educators to address concerns in relation to their own teaching practices. The Beginning Teacher Institute is open to any K-12 teachers and support staff for free.
Topics covered in these sessions will include:
I’m a Teacher, Now What?
Lesson Planning Essentials
Unpacking Standards
Data Analysis: Unpacking and Applying Test Scores
Standard Based Grading
Establishing Success Criteria
Prioritizing Content Standards
And many other topics!
