The third phase aimed to implement STEAM teaching activities that have been designed during the first stage. It was very similar to the second one, besides it focusses on incorporation of ART into lessons.Â
This activity was divided into 5 sub-activities
c) Prepare the teachers, who were going to co-teach activities in Bulgaria
This sub-phase included the preparation of teachers for the implementation of the STEAM lessons. Incorporating Art into STEM teaching was not an easy task as the balance between art and science was crucial
d) Organise the trip to Bulgaria
As it was essential to experience a real-time STEAM co-teaching, 5 teachers from Portugal visited Bulgaria and taught Bulgarian students in co-teaching teams. The trip was organised by Bulgarian team.Â
d) Select classrooms and schedules – the Bulgarian school selected classrooms and schedules for the lessons as they were host country of this activity. Basically, about 120 Bulgarian students went through the interactive and innovative STAEM experience
d) Implement the STEAM lessons in Bulgaria by co-teachers
All the STEAM lessons was implemented in different classes. There were the total of six lessons (two more than the initially planned) Each of the STEAM lessons was thought of a pair of teachers (one from Bulgaria and one from Portugal)Â
e) Collect feedback on the implemented activities
Evaluation forms was discussed and created in order to measure the impact of the activities. All the participating students provided feedback on each STEAM lesson. The feedback form was designed in accordance with students’ age
