The second phase of the project aimed to implement the teaching activities that have already been designed during the first stage
This activity was divided into 5 major sub-activities:
a)Prepare the teachers, who were going to co-teach STEM activities in Portugal
This sub-phase of the project solved one of the current problems of digitization and innovation in schools: the capacity to prepare teachers for new subjects and new approaches. This sub-phase included the preparation of teachers and schools for the implementation of the STEM lessons and it was critical to ensure teachers have all the tools, to deliver the best classroom experience.
b)Organise the trip to Portugal and accommodation
As it was essential to experience a real-time STEM co-teaching, 5 teachers from Bulgaria visited Portugal and was able to teach Portuguese students in co-teaching teams. The trip was organised by both countries.Â
c) Select classrooms and schedules – the Portuguese school selected classrooms and schedules for the STEM lessons as they were host country of this activity. Basically, all the Portuguese students was able to go through the interactive and innovative STEM experience
d) Implement the STEM teaching activities in Portugal by co-teachers
The total of four STEM lessons was implemented in different classes. Each of the four STEM lessons was thought of a pair of teachers (one from Bulgaria and one from Portugal)Â
e) Collect feedback on the implemented activities
Evaluation forms were discussed and created in order to measure the impact of the activities. All the students provided feedback on each STEM lesson. The feedback form was designed in accordance with students’ age and included smileys, emojis etc.
