Having being approached by the Principal of my undergraduate college to help under-average performers and English language learners, I embarked on the journey of teaching. I started home tutoring a few students for Anatomy and Physiology. The main focus of teaching them was to help them pass those courses. Therefore teaching pedagogy mainly included using analogies and plain regional language to assist them in understanding core concepts.
A positive testimony and a strong feedback saw an increased number of students and the coaching/tutoring involved passive instruction, traditional methodology of teaching, assessments to gauge student learning and using analogies and instruction in plain regional language. I received positive feedback from my students and their parents and this motivated me to teach further and pursue a career in teaching.
I then expanded my teaching to tutor second year homeopathic students Pathology. This was mostly in the form of traditional lecturing which is a norm in teaching in India.
