My name is Xochitl Morales and my biggest passion is to teach students of all ages. I currently teach elementary and college students. I specialize in teaching struggling readers how to use strategies to help them build their comprehension and confidence when reading. I also teach future college elementary teachers about the ins and outs of teaching.
@ONE is the Online Network of Educators working in conjunction with California Community College (CCC) Online Education Initive (OEI). The goal is to provide training and professional development to community college instructors in the use of a variety of digital tools and platforms. The end result is to increase online teaching, learning, and most important student retention. Another goal from this initiative is to support all student learning from diverse backgrounds through specific courses that bring awareness to these issues and how to tackle these issues.
The Online Teaching Principles Certificate is designed to teach instructional strategies and practices to develope online courses. There are three different course formats to choose from: 4 week, 2 week, and 1 week. Each course highlights principles in providing effective instruction to achieve student success.
At the end of each course a student is required to pass with 80% to receive a digital badge.
The capstone is the last course to enroll to complete the Online Teaching Principles Certificate. The capstone is self-paced and requires the student to demonstrate the Online Teaching Principles with the use of artifacts that show how these can be implemented in a course.
The purpose of this website is to showcase my growth in online teaching; in particular by addressing the @ONE Teaching Principles. Each artifact selected is aligned to one principle to further illustrate my intent to provide the highest quality of online education for all my students.
