I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I graduated from Paramount High School. After graduating, I completed my undergraduate at CSU, Northridge majoring in Liberal Studies. At first, I wanted to become a journalist, but realized I wanted to be able to find a job after college. Without hesitation I went with my gut instinct and pursued teaching.
Unfortunately, after graduating college in 2005 I found it hard to find a teaching position in the public school system. So, I decided to teach for the private Catholic school system. I taught grades 2nd ,3rd, and 4th for nine years. I loved it and my passion for teaching blossomed to new heights. This led me to pursue both of my Master's degree's, one in child/adolescent reading and the other in education.
In 2015, I had an inkling to pursue higher education teaching. I was hired as a part-time adjunct at Long Beach City College. There, I teach reading courses that prepare college students to advance to college level English. Most recently in 2017, I was hired at Cerritos College to teach an introductory class to future elementary teachers; like me to learn and become teachers themselves.
