By definition (Wikipedia), blended learning is an education program (formal or non-formal) that combines online digital media with traditional classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and student, with some element of student control over time, place, path, or pace.

Blended learning isn't just using multiple formats. If all learners are reading the same content, at the same pace, with the exact same expectations, just in a different format, that isn't blended learning. Blended learning involves instructional differentiation, including student choice and voice. Blended learning isn't just replacing a human instruction with a digital version.
