With everything lately, what was normal yesterday is no longer today. This past week Google contributed to our changing times with some re-branding and a really great feature release.
Google completed a re-brand of their video conferencing tools. What was previously known as Google Hangouts or Google Hangout Meet, is now known as Google Meet. This re-branding is nice, so we can all call it the same thing going forward. It was a little confusing with the multiple names/products. So Google Meet it is!
I can do what in Google Classroom?
Google released a new Google Classroom feature that allows teachers to generate a Meet link right within Google Classroom. The feature gives teachers the power to control when students can access their Google Classroom Meet. When the teacher turns the link on, their Google Classroom students can join and participate. When the teacher turns the link off, Google Classroom students can't join it.
Here is a short video explaining how to create your classroom Meet link, make it visible to students, and how students will access it.
