Will and I love to travel and want to continue doing so as a family of 3. We have brought Lincoln with us to the beach and on a few weekend trips. We are super excited to bring him along with us to Spain in June 2024. I'll be sharing some tips we've used to make traveling with a baby as smooth as possible.

I have so many gut health issues after having biliary dyskinesia. I was so nervous about Lincoln getting my gut issues because I learned that babies get their babies acquire gut bacteria from their mothers during and after birth, so I added this probiotic to my BM for the first few months after he was born. So far, he has none of the gut issues I have!
Your baby needs so many extra nutrients, and so do you when you are pregnant. This protein powder is specially designed for moms-to-be and is amazing!
Our Product List:
Amazon Echo Dot in nursery
Amazon Echo Show in bedroom and kitchen
Blink Camera(s)
Nanit: we installed the camera in the nursery - this gave me peace of mind when LJ was born since it monitors breathing. Our bedrooms are teeny tiny so we put Lincoln in his own room on night one. We used the Amazon Show in our bedroom as a monitor.
Blink Camera: love these because we can move them from room to room if we need to set LJ up somewhere. We keep one in his playroom so we can watch him if we are somewhere else in the house doing something.
Echo Shows: they're all connected to the devices above so we can view any camera from our bedroom or kitchen.

this was our go-to and the only thing that really cleared congestion - steam, saline, and snot sucker
I did not know this until going to the ER with Lincoln, but babies can take Pedialyte. The little container in this picture is what they gave us in the hospital and the larger ones are what we purchased after. It has to be the non-flavored one and will say safe for infants.
When LJ had RSV he was too congested to keep down BM or Formula/wasn't drinking enough. They recommended 2oz of Pedialyte with every 2oz of milk. This kept the consistency thin enough for him to drink.

Wowza we are in the Teachable Twos already. I am feeling exhausted and frustrated and I know Linky is too. We are going to try incorporating PECS into our daily routine along with a calming corner for "time-in" to work through feelings. Link is hitting me a lot and frustrated when he can't communicate what he wants.
The Why for PECS
Using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) for toddlers involves teaching them to communicate their needs and wants by handing a picture card to an adult, representing the desired item, and allowing them to express themselves when verbal communication is difficult, particularly for toddlers with developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder (ASD

I am already starting to think about getting Lincoln Pre-K and Kindergarten ready. He will be two this summer, so I will need to hop on a waitlist for Fall 2025. I've pulled together some of my favs for anyone else who isn't sure where to start at home with their kiddo.
Pre-K Curriculum
My Favorite Recommended Resources:
Handwriting Without Tears - there is a teaching order progression and each letter builds on each other.
For handwriting, here is a resource for the research.
Phonics Instruction: If you've been around the Blog for a while, you know how important phonics instruction is for learning to read. Kids need phonemic awareness and a strong foundation of letter sounds, blends, and digraphs.
Heggerty: My favorite phonics curriculum is Heggerty. They have great screeners here that tell you what skills your child is missing or needs further instruction on.
Heggerty also has a line of decodable books. These are great for your kiddo to sound out words as they read.
Decodable books -1 -- Decodable Books -K
UFLI: this is another great resource. It has a screening tool here and all of its resources are free online.
The Phonics dance has a YouTube channel with catchy songs to teach letter sounds and all of the blends and digraphs. There are cute printable cards that go along with it.
If you just want to explore the songs with the YouTube Channel click here for the alphabet and click here for the hunks and chunks

Kindergarten's big ideas include a number sense of one-to-one correspondence. The number 1 = 1 grape, 3 = 3 grapes, etc. Students learn to decompose numbers. Compliments of 10 is huge. Students should learn to use 10 frames. Here are some examples.
