Wushu Arena Philippines operates one of the most credentialed Taichi programs in Quezon City โ led by coaches who have not only studied Taichi deeply, but have competed and won at the international level in Hong Kong and Chengdu, China. Our Taichi athletes have stood on international podiums at the Hong Kong International Wushu Championships and the Emei Cup International Wushu Championships under the Sichuan Chinese Wushu Association โ two of the most prestigious Traditional Wushu and Taichi competitions in the world.
This level of international recognition is not something that can be purchased or claimed without results. It is earned on the competition floor, in front of international judges, against competitors from across Asia and the world. And yet โ despite this competitive pedigree โ our Taichi classes exist first and foremost for wellness. Not for competition. Not for performance. For you, your health, and your quality of life.
Our Taichi program is open to adults and seniors of all fitness levels, complete beginners with no prior experience, working professionals looking for a mindful weekday practice, seniors seeking balance, joint health, and mental clarity, and anyone who has ever been curious about Taichi but felt unsure where to begin. If you can breathe and move, you can practice Taichi. That is the only requirement.
Taichi โ formally known as Taijiquan โ is a centuries-old Chinese internal martial art "Internal Wushu" practiced worldwide for its profound health, wellness, and meditative benefits. Often described as meditation in motion, Taichi combines slow, flowing, continuous movements with deep breathing and focused mental awareness. It is rooted in the principles of balance, harmony, and the cultivation of internal energy โ making it one of the most holistic and complete wellness practices available today.
Unlike high-impact fitness trends, Taichi is gentle on the joints, accessible at any age, and sustainable as a lifelong practice. It is practiced by millions of people worldwide โ from young athletes to seniors in their 80s and 90s โ precisely because it meets every practitioner exactly where they are. There is no competition with others in a Taichi wellness class. There is only the quiet, steady practice of moving with intention, breathing with awareness, and becoming more present in your own body with every session.
At Wushu Arena Philippines, we teach several forms of traditional Taichi Basics and advanced forms including Taijiquan 24 โ the standard international barehand form, Taijijian 32 โ the Taichi sword routine, Chen Style Taichi โ the oldest and most powerful traditional form, and Taijishan Duilian โ Traditional Taichi Fan, performed solo or as a duo. Students are guided through whichever form is most appropriate for their goals and level โ always at their own pace, always with full support
The health and wellness benefits of Taichi are supported by decades of research and experienced firsthand by millions of practitioners worldwide. Regular Taichi practice delivers the following proven benefits:

Is Taichi a real martial art or just slow dancing? Taichi โ formally Taijiquan โ is a legitimate Chinese martial art with centuries of history. It is practiced worldwide both as a wellness discipline and as a competitive sport under international governing bodies. Wushu Arena Philippines competes at internationally recognized championships in Hong Kong and China, where Taichi is judged by certified international officials against competitors from across Asia and the world.
Are your coaches properly qualified to teach Taichi? Yes. Head Coach Arra Jeuneze Corpuz holds a National Coaches Seminar certificate under the Philippine Sports Commission (2025), has personally won international gold medals in Taichi events, and has received the Excellent Coach Award at two international championships. She was trained under Master Yi Zhibu (More Than Medals QC) and several coaches from the National Wushu Team. Assistant Coach Ishy Tantiangco is a four-time international gold medalist and Wushu Arena's Taichi coach and official judge. Both coaches have demonstrated their expertise on the international competition floor โ not just in the classroom.
Are the international competitions your team joined legitimate? Yes. The Hong Kong International Wushu Championships is one of the most established international Wushu and Taichi competitions in Asia, held annually in Hong Kong SAR. The Emei Cup International Wushu Championships is organized by the Sichuan Chinese Wushu Association in Chengdu, China. Both competitions involve certified international judges and attract competitors from multiple countries. Our team's medals and awards from these competitions are fully documented and publicly verifiable.
Am I too old to start Taichi? No. Taichi has no upper age limit. It is practiced by seniors worldwide well into their 70s, 80s, and beyond. It is in fact one of the most highly recommended exercises specifically for older adults due to its proven benefits for balance, joint health, and mental clarity.
Do I need any prior experience? No experience of any kind is required. Complete beginners are the primary audience for our wellness classes and will be guided through every movement step by step from the very first session.
Is Taichi good for people with health conditions or joint pain? Yes. Taichi is widely recommended by medical professionals for people with arthritis, joint pain, high blood pressure, stress-related conditions, and balance issues. All movements will be adapted to your individual physical needs and limitations.
How is your Taichi different from YouTube tutorials or other classes? Coach Arra and Coach Ishy teach Traditional Taichi with the depth, precision, and understanding that comes from years of international competition and formal coaching experience. Proper Taichi requires correct body alignment, breathing technique, and movement quality that cannot be reliably learned from a video. In-person instruction ensures you develop genuine skill โ and avoid the common errors that can actually cause injury when Taichi is practiced incorrectly.
Can children practice Taichi? Yes. Taichi is suitable for children and builds focus, coordination, discipline, and body awareness from a young age. Young athlete Luyi Corpuz began training as a young child and is now a five-time international gold medalist โ proof of what early Taichi training can produce.
