Drill Team is a competition team which competes against other AFJROTC units throughout the state and even at a national level. We compete in inspection, 30 command unarmed regulation drill, 50 command unarmed regulation drill, and unarmed exhibition drill.
Competition is only a part of what we do as a drill team member you will develop leadership, confidence, pride, and learn how to properly wear the uniform.
Color Guard is a competition team which competes against other AFJROTC units throughout the state in categories such as: Inspection, AFMAN 36-2203 (Air Force), and TC 3-21.5 (Army).
Other than competing being in the color guard teaches cadets discipline, leadership, respect, camaraderie , and how to properly wear their uniform.
The JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl (JLAB) is a nationally recognized academic competition created exclusively for JROTC students. By participating, cadets learn the values of citizenship, leadership, academic competition, and college opportunity.
CyberPatriot is a National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company.
In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services.
The PT Team competes in physical challenges against other JROTC units. They complete challenges such as: running, pull-ups, push-ups, army crawl, tire flipping, and the fireman's carry.
Being a member of our PT Team teaches cadets the importance of working out, working hard, being confident, working as a team, and a commitment to finishing.
Kitty Hawk Air Society (KHAS) is a nationally recognized honor society. The purpose is to further instill cadet leadership and teamwork. "Kitty Hawkers" are required to maintain a specific GPA and participate in community service (must be a second year JROTC cadet and have a GPA of 3.2).
KHAS Objectives are: to promote higher academic standards; be of service to the school and community; promote excellence, integrity, and initiative; develop leadership ability; encourage academic excellence.
Model Rocketry club provides an opportunity for cadets to learn the basic principles of aerospace rocketry. During the program, the cadets get the opportunity to build and launch model rockets and perform in appointed team positions.
These teams are the most noticeable co-curricular activity within the AFJROTC program.
There is a fine line between Color Guard and Honor Guard. Colors, or flags, are often carried by either team, but the primary purpose of the Color Guard is to present the National Colors at a presentation or ceremony. The Honor Guard may present the Colors, but their main purpose is to present a contingent to bear honors at ceremonies or events.
The teams typically consists of four highly motivated cadets. The teams teach cadets discipline, leadership, respect, and camaraderie.
