Androcentricism
Androcentrism refers to the ways a man's needs, experiences and values are seen as normative.
Androcentrism describes the gender bias that places men at the centre of things. As a result, men and the male experience is seen as normative, whilst women and the female experience are 'otherized.' This makes privileges in society and culture, and positions women in relation to men.
This phenomenon is present in individual biases, language, and institutional policies.
Simone de Beauvoir Quotes
"Man is defined as a human being and a woman as a female—whenever she behaves as a human being she is said to imitate the male."
"Representation of the world, like the world itself, is the work of men; they describe it from their own point of view, which they confuse with the absolute truth."
