Employed Communication Perspectives, Theories, and Concepts to Navigate Social Interactions.
Theory Application Paper (Social Judgement Theory)
This project allowed me to apply Social Judgment Theory (SJT) to real world, intercultural interactions. I used my own experience of living in South Korea to apply this theory to. The concept of latitudes of acceptance, rejection, and non-commitment helped me reflect on how I responded to unexpected experiences, such as being stared at by strangers or adjusting to a more reserved social environment. SJT gave me a framework to interpret these experiences. My study abroad experience is one that I will cherish forever, but especially being able to connect it to my academic work is something I value so highly.Â
