The aim of this research is to create a painless, self-administrable hollow microneedle patch for targeted drug delivery to specific ocular tissue (retina) to ensure a sustained release of drugs for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy. The primary goal of the project is to achieve greater patient compliance by limiting the use of intravitreal injections and focusing on the treatment using tissue-specific drug delivery by hollow microneedles.
