The 5th week of observing at St. Cruz Elementary School. My cooperating teacher informed me that next week, each grade level would have a visitor who will evaluate the children's reading and comprehension abilities. I was approached and asked if I would be ready to help any pupils who had difficulty in reading. I accepted the opportunity to help and assist the pupils' reading growth. Helping pupils who are having difficulty with reading is a vital part of providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment. By offering individualized attention and guidance, I hope to help these children improve their reading skills and gain confidence. It was shocking and challenging to find that some pupils struggle to recognize letters and sounds. It might be discouraging to see this, especially if you have high hopes for their reading progress. However, keep in mind that each learner grows at their own pace and may have unique learning needs. Recognizing and addressing these hurdles is an important step toward giving the necessary assistance and guidance to help them overcome their difficulties. It is crucial to face such tasks with patience, empathy, and a variety of instructional strategies. Consider using multimodal activities, interactive games, and personalized interventions to engage students and make learning easier to access.
As future teachers, we have to understand and prepare for the fact that not all students will grow at the same pace or with the same learning ability. Each student has different talents, problems, and needs. Being prepared and ready to help pupils who struggle with reading or other areas of learning is a critical component of being an effective teacher.
