In January 2025, I was completing my for the Paralegal Certificate Program. Students were tasked with drafting an internal office memorandum to determine the best course of action for a 16-year-old. Students had to analyze the minor's situation, synthesize, evaluate, and apply relevant case law. To assist in my research, I utilized the legal database, LexisNexis. As a result, I produced an eleven-page internal office memorandum that outlined conclusions that were favorable to the 16-year-old.
In December 2022, I was completing my Capstone project for my bachelor's degree. Students were tasked with examining a criminal justice issue and its impact on society. I chose to research the effects of racial disparities on minorities and their interactions with the criminal justice system. To achieve this, I investigated the disparities in rehabilitation, the impact of racial profiling, minority sentencing, and its historical context. Ultimately, I developed a set of recommendations for legislators and law enforcement in a twelve-page report.
