The flagstone pattern of the closed hexagon twist allows for a variety of variations to be folded on top. When inked, the patterns are even clearer.
Blue triangles, pink petals, and green pinwheels. 16 triangle grids on tracing paper.
Backlit, the triangles are more apparent, although the other patterns are not as affected.
Blue and red floral patterns, which would make Fujimoto's Asanoha model if the hexagons were folded back. Because they aren't, the patterns are less obvious, although the inking still shows through the tracing paper.
When backlit, the floral patterns are crisp and clear.

Helena Verrill's Dragon Hearts provides two interesting views: the normal view with a triangular pattern, and the backlit view which reveals the hearts. Starting with 6" paper allows a model which fits almost perfectly into these frames.
6 different frames, using a variety of marbled mulberry papers, 16 square grids.
Backlit with a sunny window, showing off the heart motif.
