Question: Why did you close the ARPG and turn Tales from Equestria into this instead?

There were many reasons, but it ultimately came down to the fact that the work required to maintain Tales from Equestria as an ARPG was not worth it. Since the ARPG was not monetized in any way, all moderators were volunteers. ARPGs require a lot of micromanagement, even with tools such as Paperdemon, which ate up a lot of time and energy for the team. Additionally, we were constantly needing to manage the implementation of game mechanics in relation to lore. When our team became overburdened and stretched too thin, we sat down and really examined what people were enjoying about Tales from Equestria. Our most common answer was the world, events, and lore. The low engagement with game mechanics suggested that all the extra effort may be for little actual gain, so we decided to pivot and focus on what people seemed to enjoy the most. By changing the format to an AU community we hope to eliminate a lot strings the limited both moderators and creators alike.
