Past Talbots
The Talbot Workshop has run every year* since 2004, covering a topic of contemporary research interest. Here are testimonials (collected via survey) from participants in Viva Talbot 2021, a virtual retrospective on the Talbot Workshop:
One of the US Talbots was the first math-conference I ever attended, and I think participation in that (and other Talbots) shaped me a great deal as a mathematician.
[Talbot] gave me a "lay of the land" so I am unafraid to talk to mathematicians in different fields. Many Talbot participants have also become respected researchers in their fields, so the connections I made at Talbot have led to lasting friendships within the math community.
The mathematical content is always current and well presented, and the format of the workshop really help[s] you get into the relevant subject...Then there is also the social aspect of Talbot. I've met some of the best people at Talbot, and having them in my life makes Talbot worth it in itself. Getting to know other young people in the community opens up for collaboration as well as just learning maths from one another.
I have written papers with people I met at past Talbot workshops, some of which built upon the material presented at the workshop!
Talbot was responsible for my becoming an algebraic topologist.
