Everyone has equal time limitation (e.g. 5 minutes to share ideas. It can be useful to start with this tool in such situation where facilitator feels difficulty with harmonizing different opinions. Participants make sure that they will be listened by others. And it makes them relax and cooperative.
When the climate is warm in the room, facilitator can offer to go around with certain questions where everyone has opportunity to tell what they think or feel about the actual problem. They can listen to each other better and feel relax, because they know will be listened as well.
Nobody can speak twice until everyone speaks at least once in the group. This tool can ensure the equal opportunity to speak, involve everyone and politely control dominant participants.
Meetings can be started with questions, e.g. what is your expectation, what do you want from this meeting etc. to make sure that the goal is shared and everyone knows exactly what will happen. Also closing question e.g. how do you feel about the meeting, what do you want to tell as final comment can help each participant to have a common understanding about the meeting. Do not start a new discussion from a final critical comment, just accept and respect it!
