The Yangmingshan area also possesses a wealth of geothermal resources, with hot springs having differing compositions depending on their location in the park. Nearby Xing-yi Road in Beitou is lined with hot spring restaurants. If you’re passing along this way, don’t forget to take a relaxing dip in the sulfur springs!

In 1890 during the Qing Dynasty, gold was found in the Keelung River during the construction of Taiwan's first railroad, which led to a small gold rush. Gold seams were eventually found in the mountains behind Jiufen around what is today Jinguashi.

Yilan looks out to the sea on Taiwan's Northeast Coast, with mountains on the three other sides forming unique geography that has nurtured an equally distinctive cultural landscape and human warmth.

It is an off-stream reservoir with the only jagged weir spillway in Taiwan. It is surrounded by green hills. People can take in the whole beauty at once in a high areas. The sparkling wave of the reservoir surface increases the spirituality of the mountains and rivers.

Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area has a rich indigenous culture and excellent agricultural products. Come here to enjoy bike riding, cable car, and boat rides, or take the little train at Jiji and experience the nostalgic Taiwan railway. Lukang is the second oldest town in Taiwan. There are many old temples in this town, and some are more than 300 years old. As time goes on, in order to keep the shape of old town but also to make a living for locals, people start to build factories on reclaimed land on the western coast of Lukang.

Qigu Salt Mountain (七股鹽山) is a popular scenic spot that has been widely reported in magazines and newspapers, its snow-white peaks towering above the coast are a famous landmark of Qigu. For the last few years events have placed huge mascots on the salt mountain top, from the original fortune cat to an angel, and in recent years the adorable owl and penguin, etc.

Out in the foothills of former Kaohsiung County are tropical badlands, hills of easily eroding material that makes the landscape look so unique that you must think that it's on the moon. In the summer of 2014 the Foreigners in Taiwan team took a journey to this park in Tianliao which showcases these hills with trails and beautiful scenic views.

There are abundant fishery resources here. Because of the high salt content of the soil, most people cultivate marine products through seawater. Therefore, such a special beauty and industry have been produced.
