Liyutan Reservoir

鯉魚潭水

Liyutan Reservoir is one of the most distinctive reservoirs in Taiwan, with a special dam shape. It also provides sufficient water sources for the cultivation of fruits and vegetables in the downstream plains.

It is an off-stream reservoir with the only jagged weir spillway in Taiwan. It is surrounded by green hills. People can take in the whole beauty at once in a high areas. The sparkling wave of the reservoir surface increases the spirituality of the mountains and rivers.

Qigu salt fields

青鯤鯓鹽田

Qigu Salt Mountain (七股鹽山) is a popular scenic spot that has been widely reported in magazines and newspapers, its snow-white peaks towering above the coast are a famous landmark of Qigu. For the last few years events have placed huge mascots on the salt mountain top, from the original fortune cat to an angel, and in recent years the adorable owl and penguin, etc.


Tianliao Moon World

田寮月世界

Out in the foothills of former Kaohsiung County are tropical badlands, hills of easily eroding material that makes the landscape look so unique that you must think that it's on the moon. In the summer of 2014 the Foreigners in Taiwan team took a journey to this park in Tianliao which showcases these hills with trails and beautiful scenic views.


Shaped Saltern

扇形鹽田

Qingkunshen dates back to 1975, making it the youngest saltern in the area and the only one developed under the control of the Kuomintang. Its name is derived from Qingkunshen 青鯤鯓, the fishing village immediately to the south, notable for being the westernmost settlement on the island of Taiwan.
