TAItech, composed of six universities of technology in Taiwan, held its second roundtable meeting on Friday, July 4. The meeting was hosted by the current chair university, National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech), and took place at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), the southernmost member institution of TAItech.
Key topics included the launch of the first cross-campus online German language course within TAItech. Four sessions have already been completed, and member universities plan to continue offering these courses in the future, sharing NKUST’s strong resources in German language education. Another important development is the Faculty Expertise Database, which will integrate AI-powered search functions to better facilitate academic collaboration between Taiwanese and German faculty members. The system is currently being developed within TAItech, with the long-term goal of extending access to HAWtech partners.
In addition, two HAWtech member universities – Esslingen University of Applied Sciences (HS Esslingen) and HTW Dresden – are scheduled to visit Taiwan in September 2025. The visits will focus on discussions with TAItech partners regarding inter-university collaboration and joint initiatives.
Founded in 2017, TAItech unites six national universities of technology in Taiwan: National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), National Chin-Yi University of Technology (NCUT), National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech), National Formosa University (NFU), Taipei Tech, and NKUST. HAWtech, established in 2009, brings together six German universities of applied sciences: FH Aachen, HTW Berlin, HS Darmstadt, HTW Dresden, HS Esslingen, and HS Karlsruhe, with a combined enrollment of about 60,000 students.
Together, the alliance focuses on five key areas of cooperation: summer schools, short-term programs, student exchanges, joint laboratories, and industry internships—continuing to strengthen academic and research ties between Taiwan and Germany.
