Single pixel imaging using multimode fiber and integrated optical phased array.

Multimode fiber based imaging is promising for in vivo imaging due to its unique nature of simultaneously realizing minimal invasiveness and high spatial resolution. However, the use of spatial light modulators have kept the previous systems slow, bulky, and complex. We proposed and demonstrated the use of integrated optical phased arrays, which can potentially make the system ultra-fast and ultra-compact [1]. We also elucidated by theory and numerical analysis that the scale of the optical phased array can be significantly smaller than the number of the modes held by the multimode fiber [2].
