Children and adults with disabilities and specialized health care needs often hold some level of medical trauma. Caregivers also experience chronic stress and trauma related to their loved ones’ health care needs. There is encouraging work being done to address these concerns in hospitals and other health care facilities. Technology Assisted Children’s Home Program (TACHP) and the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium (NNCC), with support from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, were excited to present a learning opportunity focused on improving trauma-informed practice in the home health community.
Presenters Chou Hallegra, Parent & Trauma-Informed Care Consultant, and Caitlin Axtmayer, LSW, Center for Pediatric Traumatic Stress, delivered this program with collaborative support from Meghann Luczkowski, M.S. Ed Project Consultant and Family Advocate and Erin Johnson, MPH, MSN, RN, Program Coordinator for TACHP.
This event took place in person on October 17th at the Giant Superstore Community Center in Harrisburg, PA.
