Troop 155 has its origin from Troop 199 that was initiated some 30 years ago. When the Men’s Club of St. Joseph Catholic Church took over sponsorship, the Troop moved to the church at Mission San Jose. Troop 199 quickly out-grew the facilities at the Church and relocated to Blacow Elementary in central Fremont. In 2015, with 75 active scouts, it had grown so large that the Troop subdivided, meeting at Blacow and Millard Elementary schools on the same night and time. This worked but the Troop continued to grow.
When the decision was made to split into thirds, one group wanted to locate to south Fremont as that area was under-served. Since Troop 199 originated in that area, it was decided that that group would retain the 199 troop designation. St. Joseph’s Men’s Club did have a Troop 155 flag from a troop the Club once sponsored and it was decided that the troop at Blacow would take up that designation. The final group was that of the Millard group and was called Troop 120. In the Fall of 2017, both Troop 155 and Troop 120 were chartered. Each troop now operates as a separate and independent unit.
