Alternate PICO tools

The examples given so far have been focused on intervention (therapy) questions, but there are many other forms of questions.

For example looking back to our original scenario we could have instead decided to undertake a study to determine why older people are not compliant with taking their medication, this would be a qualitative question. Or we could have examined the prevalence of major depressive disorder in this population group, or the risk to the patients of undertaking new exercise programmes.
