Besides competing, FIRST also encourages spreading the idea of engineering, STEM, and Gracious Professionalism to people and children all across the world. This is most often referred to as outreach because we are reaching out to new people who aren't currently part of the STEM world. We go the extra mile and do as many as we can, so that we can build a better future by encouraging others to start robotics and try something new.
We taught elementary students how to code MBots! The students were 4th graders with little to no background on programming, and we taught them how operate and code their own mini robots.
We mentored our coaches sons FLL (First Lego League) team, The Smarties. They have just finished Lego League Jr, and so we were able to help them on programming and completing challenges for Lego League.
We taught kids about the coding that goes behind the drive controls of a robot and how to drive MBots! The lesson plan was very simmilar to what we did at Lee Avenue
We were able to go on a field trip to IBM (International Business Machine) and learn about not only robotics, but data science, IoT (Internet of Things), AI (artificial Intellegence) and Machine Learning!
We taught kids at The Center for Developmental Disabilities how to drive and play with MBots!
Some of our members went to the Syosset Public Library and answered some questions about our robotics program.

We taught kids how to program and fly their own Airblock drones. They connected their tablets to the base of the drone and were able to program and customize their own controller.
Here, we taught student how to program drones and fly them. We used Airblock, and the student were really engaged in flying, doing tricks, and competing with their drones.
This was our first outreach, and we created a Lego Mindstorm game where kids can drive their bots to score goals using a wiffle ball.
