INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE AND RESEARCH TRAINING
PROGRAM at CHARLES DARWIN UNIVERSITY (AUSTRALIA) 24-30 May 2025
Workshops & Research Symposium 2025
Project under the leadership of Dr. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Universitas Islam Negeri Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon
In the era of rapid globalization and technological advancement, there is a growing demand for internationally oriented higher education. To address this, Universitas Islam Negeri Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon (UIN SSC), the first cyber Islamic university under Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, aims to pioneer cyber-based education. It employs artificial intelligence (AI) integrated with innovative brain-learning tools to foster Augmented Intelligence.
UIN SSC actively pursues global collaboration to enhance academic and professional capacities. As part of this commitment, it participates in student exchange programs focusing on research training and international publication at Charles Darwin University (CDU), Australia, chosen for its prominence as one of Australia's leading digital universities with expertise in AI and neuroscience.
CDU features distinguished professors, including Dr. Ania Lian, Vice President of the Asia Association of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (AsiaCALL), and an expert in AI-driven, neuroscience-informed pedagogy. Dr. Lian played a critical role in transitioning IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon into UIN SSC, specifically in curriculum and AI-integrated teaching methodologies.
This program is integral to globalizing UIN SSC's educational initiatives, enabling students and lecturers to develop deeper literacy competencies through direct interaction with international academics, leveraging AI technology in language literacy learning and assessment.

1. Enhancing Students’ Academic Quality
This program aims to enhance the academic quality of UIN SSC students by providing opportunities for participation in international academic environments, particularly in research and the application of AI in education. By improving students' academic capabilities, the program supports the university's internationalization goal, which is a key priority outlined in the University's Strategic Priority Program guidelines.
2. Developing Students’ Research Capabilities
A primary goal of this initiative is to equip students with AI-based research skills, thereby strengthening their analytical capacities in language literacy and pedagogy. This aligns with the Collaborative Research objectives set out in the Rector’s Strategic Plan (SK Perkin Rektor UIN SSC), emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in research.
This program offers UIN SSC students the opportunity to establish academic and professional relationships with international experts, lecturers, and students from various countries. These connections represent valuable assets for their future career development.
Participation in this program is a strategic step toward internationalizing UIN SSC. It aims to strengthen the university's global reputation and broaden students' access to high-quality international education.
This program contributes toward achieving the SDGs, specifically by increasing access to quality education (SDG 4) and fostering sustainable global partnerships (SDG 17) through collaboration between UIN SSC and Charles Darwin University.
Selected UIN SSC students will directly benefit from the program, gaining improved academic skills, international research experience, and opportunities to develop a global perspective in education and research. These benefits align closely with the university's internationalization objectives outlined in its Strategic Priority Program guidelines.
Lecturers and researchers from UIN SSC will also benefit from this academic collaboration through joint research projects, scientific publications, and knowledge exchange in the fields of AI and education.
Participation in this program will enhance UIN SSC’s position within the global university network, increasing the institution’s competitiveness in technology-driven higher education.
CDU will benefit from this partnership through expanded academic collaboration with UIN SSC, providing opportunities to broaden research networks and innovations in AI-based education.
