My name is Sydnee Moser and I am from West Valley City, Utah. I graduated from Hunter High School in 2014, then came to Southern Utah University later that year. I am studying Elementary and Mathematics Education. I want to teach middle school math, because I believe giving students the proper foundation will help them be successful and positive throughout their future education. In coming to college I have been a part of multiple organizations, such as: Alpha Phi Fraternity, United Greek Council, Southern Utah University Student Association (SUUSA), The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), and Southern Utah University Department of Mathematics Club (SUUDMC).
I rushed Alpha Phi in Fall 2014. I have held multiple positions since I have joined, such as: Director of Parent and Alumnae Relations, Director of Finance, Vice President of Chapter Operations, Director of Chapter Programming, and now Director of Ceremonies. This position has meant more to me than any other, because I have the opportunity to use our ceremonies and Ritual to connect our past, present, and future sisters.
This project is going to contribute to my larger career goals by allowing me to understand the importance of teaching strategies and learning styles outside of classroom setting. In the education field we are always taught how to better our teaching styles in subject based learning but with this position I will be able to take a more personable approach when presenting the information of Alpha Phi’s history. However, this project is going to contribute to my larger personal goals of becoming a Chapter Advisor by giving me the proper knowledge in Ritual and the true meaning of Alpha Phi, which I can then take to a chapter that may be struggling.
