Sivaram reciting Rudram during Mahaa_Pradosham

Sivaram Hariharan was tutelaged in the Yajur-Veda from the age of 12 when his Yagnopaveetam was performed till the age of 22, when he left for the USA to pursue his Ph.D in Medicinal Chemistry at North Dakota State University. He received this invaluable Vedic tutelage at the Shri Shankara Matham Matunga,Mumbai, under the late Vedic Vidhwan, Shri Tiruvayyaar Vishwanatha Ganapaadigal, who was a doyen of the Yajurveda, a Semmankudi equivalent of the Vedas. Under his divine and magnanimous guidance, Sivaram was trained to chant the Yajur-Veda, as recited since times immemorial. The Ghanam recital, especially, is a very complex form of recital and requires the highest order of precision in both the pronounciation as well as the Vedic tones. Thus Ghanam recital is a realm of highly trained and accomplished Vedic exponents. Shiva recites a huge selection of Aashirwadam Ghanams and also the entire Rudram and Chamakam in Ghanam format. And as a mark of expertise, Sivaram can even recite some mantras in the reverse, while maintaining the words and tonal combination priciples to the highest accuracy.

Recently on 28-April-2009, he participated in a Rudram (full) and Chamakam (first 3 stanzas) Ghana-paraayam with a select band of Veda-Vidhwaans at a function held at Komarapuram, Palakkad and earned their appreciation and approval. All this by the grace of his late Guru, who had embossed the foundations of chanting in him.

He has many students internationally whom he teaches Veda mantras through Skype.
