SYC 2026 EOI now live!
We entered 7 tournaments in 2025, competing in the European Ultimate Club Season (EUCS) and UK scene. Alongside the tournaments, we had trainings, pod sessions, track sessions, throwing meet ups and plenty of team meals, alongside varied organised socials (climbing, disco bowling, mug painting, sports day, and pub quiz!)
Our season began early at the one-day event UKU Spring Start Up in March. Lightening stopped play early but SYC took home the trophy after 3 wins and beautiful offensive flow. What a start to the season!
The next tournament was a month later: EUF Spring Tour in Leicester. We finished 7th and won spirit, with strong wins against Flame and Gravity from Ireland and a close universe loss against Gentle from Belgium.
UKU Tour Windfarm in May truly lived up to its name. Battling through strong winds, we showed mental resilience and tenacity and held seed finishing 6th.
In June, we ventured to Germany for Disc Days Cologne. SYC previously went to Disc Days in both 2015 and 2019 and we were so excited to return on the 10 year anniversary of the club first going! Saturday we topped the pool and had a fun evening of music, games, and smashing our three-tier human pyramid. On Sunday, we won the semi-final 13-8 against Fast, Faster, Master, and had a thrilling universe point win against Seagulls from Hamburg, to take home the GOLD and joint winners of spirit!
UKU Qualifiers in July was the seeding event for Nationals to follow. We started the weekend against Bristol, and despite a strong comeback, Bristol took the win 11-8. After 2 wins against Bristol 2s and Horizon, we played LMU for the final placement game, this time coming out 11-8 on top to break seed and finish 5th!
In August, we took to the hot Italian coast in Rimini for EUF Summer Tour. Fuelled by plenty of pizza and gelato from the Friday night, we showed a stella performance on the Saturday. We beat the Swiss National Champions, FABulous, 13-10 in our first game. Our second game was against Italian National Champions, Tequila Boom Boom. Our squeaky clean offence and a huge D-line break brought us to 8-8, going toe-to-toe with the top seed of the tournament. TBB started to pull away in the second half and the final score was 15-11 to TBB, but our intensity, focus and belief showed what SYC are made of. We cooled off at the beach and ate ridiculous amounts of pasta accompanied by a hilarious quiz by Rupal. We finished 8th, beating our original seed, and came 2nd in spirit.
UKU Nationals at the end of August finished up our season. Our systems clicked, our celebrations roared, and it was a joy to compete together in such a competitive UK women's division. As a rematch from qualifiers, we faced LMU for the final placement game, with LMU coming out on top this time 15-13. SYC finished 6th.
We have so much to be proud of from the 2025 season! We supported each other, ran our team systems and saw huge gains in individuals' performance on pitch. We have also been nominated in the top 3 for Spirit of the Game Team of the Year in the EUCS! Check out the highlights and pictures from our season here. We can't wait to keep building into 2026 and beyond - stay tuned for off-season and 2026 plans coming up!
Good luck to our players competing for GB this summer. Scotty, Kirsten, Ilona and Eyan in the Masters division, and Carina, Cat and Ailsa in the U24s. We are so proud of you!
SYC are excited to announce our second team, SIIC! This summer we are laying the foundations for the team, attending the St Albans I Hert Ultimate tournament alongside coached training sessions.
Our aim is to provide more FMPs the opportunity to play women’s during the season to increase development and participation in the women’s division. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
SIIC had a fantastic performance at the I Hert Ultimate tournament - check out the highlights on the reel to the right!
We kicked off the 2025 season at SYC Shack, our annual training and team bonding weekend!
We began training our offensive principles on pitch, and had classroom sessions covering team goals and strength and conditioning.
We worked hard off pitch with a team workout at CrossFit on the Saturday and a Bounce class on the Sunday, fuelled by a big pub dinner on the Saturday evening!
In January we had our 2nd and 3rd SYC Saturdays themed 'trust' and 'heart' respectively. Thanks to Sport Islington for the grant funding, enabling us to provide free coached sessions on 3G to a whopping 110 players, and thank you to all the players for coming!

Deadline is 12th January and we will send invites to our closed trials by 19th Jan at the latest. We will review responses on a rolling basis so encourage early applications. 90 people have signed up to attend our SYC Saturdays and the first one on 30th November was a huge success! The session's theme was grit and we had a masterclass on all things defence including forcing, footwork and deny and contest. If you missed out on signing up, join the waitlist for the two SYC Saturdays in January here.
Thanks to Sport Islington funding, we've also been able to give out 56 new SYC discs for free at our SYC Saturdays. We created a lottery system ensuring that those who'd benefit most from a free disc have recieved one. Check out the discs below designed by club members Rachel and Carina!
We are thrilled that SYC have been awarded a £1,250 grant from Sport Islington to fund 3 SYC Saturdays. These will be 3-hour sessions including coaching and games on 3G open to all female-matching players, as well as to provide 56 new and exclusive SYC discs to give away at sessions too!
See more info about the sessions in the form here and sign up by 17th November 2024 to ensure everyone is invited to at least one session if we need to cap numbers. After this date, please email to enquire about spaces.
[EDIT: You can now sign up to our SYC Saturday waitlist on the form below or here!]
SYC are delighted to announce Rupal Ghelani-Khan as SYC’s coach for the 2025 season.

We can’t wait to kick off the season at our first SYC Saturday in November!
