Nature trail winds through the woods in conjunction with archery range. Identification signs throughout the trail provide education for youths as well as adults. The trail was founded by past member Wilbur "Hooker" Eckstein whose dream was to provide opportunities for all ages to enjoy the serenity of nature and its value to us. Enjoy a walk any time, especially in the fall. Elementary teachers can take their students on an educational trip and have a picnic at the shelter and playground. Many educational signs have been placed throughout the trail due to grants subsidized by state and national IWLA . This trail and it's offerings were made possible with the partnership of Outdoor Heritage Education Center (OHEC or OH-heck)
Playground for youth.
Fire pit for "camp fire" and fellowship.
We host two local high school trap shooting teams for six weeks in the fall and nine weeks in the spring. Teams include Benton and Southwestern. We hope to have another school joining us this year depending on school board approval.
Once a year our Chapter awards up to two $500 scholarships to deserving high school graduates in our area. Application forms are available at the schools. Applicants send their application to the Chapter early in the spring of the year. The award goes to the senior who is going on to higher education pursuing an emphasis on conservation.
