This student centered reading course is designed to improve the reading skills of the English Learner. Instruction will focus on decoding skills, systematic vocabulary development, comprehension, fluency, and study skills. Attention will be paid to developing the students’ reading skills in a meaningful context for situations both within and beyond school settings.

Class Design:
Consider assigning students to 20-30 minutes of software activities and 20-30 minutes of independent reading.
Additional Activities:
REAL book: End of Unit projects that haven’t been done in class. Many of these assignments have integrated tasks that would allow for both reading & writing practice.
