Intensive Language Arts builds student competence and confidence through consistent strategic partner work and collaborative instructional routines they need for success in college and career. Students focus on academic vocabulary development, language, syntax, grammar and writing structures through close reading of grade level informational and literary texts, followed by sentence frames that gradually release students to work on their own. Each lesson provides language to facilitate discussion and provides multiple opportunities to use by employing different group strategies designed to foster verbal English skills even when they are creating a written product.
