Tech Attackers

This section covers (often 1-of) attackers which target certain Pokémon.

Note that any time you see a non-ex Pokémon below, you can add Crustle and Mimikyu to its list of targets. For brevity, I won't be repeating those walls every time a non-ex is mentioned. Non-ex attackers may also be valuable for messing up the opponent's Prize mapping.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex

Played in: Multiple decks

Targets: Anything in the 160-220 HP tier, other Basic ex attackers

Does just enough damage to KO support Pokémon, enabling "Boss for game"s. Once your opponent is down to 1/2 Prizes, Blood Moon costs 0/1 Energy.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex can turn the tables on an early Iron Hands ex rampaging through your evolving Basics. If the Iron Hands ex has KOed two of your Basics, taking 4 Prizes and leaving you without a developed board, things might seem grim...until you put down Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex, attach an Energy to it, and revenge kill the Iron Hands ex! Of course, that doesn't win you the game immediately (you'll still have 4 more Prizes to go), but it could be the start of a comeback.

Lillie's Clefairy ex

Played in: Multiple decks

Targets: Dragapult ex, Raging Bolt ex

The Dragon killer. 120/160 damage KOs Raging Bolt ex/Dragapult ex after Weakness. If you're attacking with Lillie's Clefairy ex itself, that translates to 5 and 7 Benched Pokémon total.

Some decks will play Bravery Charm so Lillie's Clefairy ex survives Dragapult ex's Phantom Dive. Dragapult ex can counter this with Jamming Tower, though.

Teal Mask Ogerpon ex, Iron Leaves ex

Played in: Raging Bolt ex, (Iron Leaves ex: Joltik Box, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex: Tera Box)

Targets: Charizard ex, Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex, N's Zoroark ex

The Darkness killers. While Teal Mask Ogerpon ex more often serves the role of card draw engine/Energy accelerator, and Iron Leaves ex helps escape retreat locks, both Pokémon are capable of hitting for 360 damage against Grass-weak Darkness-type Pokémon (assuming 2 Energy attached to them, in the case of Ogerpon).

Fan Rotom

Played in: Multiple decks; anything with a Noctowl or Dudunsparce engine

Targets: Anything with 70 HP or less

Like the Grass-type ex's above, Fan Rotom usually plays a supporting role with its Ability, but can turn into an attacker when necessary. It does enough damage to KO all Babies and most evolving Basics for minimal investment (1 Energy and a Stadium in play) and risk (it's a 1-Prizer).

If you're using Fan Rotom for Noctowl, you'll also play Area Zero Underdepths, which will turn on Assault Landing. Even if your opponent plays a Stadium to bump your AZU, their Stadium still counts for Assault Landing.

Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex

Played in: Multiple decks

Targets: Support Pokémon, evolving Basics/Stage 1s

Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex has two good utility attacks. Sob applies a retreat lock, and Torrential Pump can snipe evolving Basics/Stage 1s.

Torrential Pump is quite expensive and time-sensitive (you need to use it before your opponent can evolve their Pokémon out of the 100-120 damage range), so you will need something like Crispin and/or Sparkling Crystal to accelerate into it.

Another application of Torrential Pump is to KO a Benched 1-Prizer and damage their Active ex, then KO the Active next turn with an extra Prize effect (Briar, Iron Hands ex). This lets you keep pace with an opponent who is taking 2 Prizes per turn (they go 2-2 over two turns, you go 1-3).

Note that you will get the Bench damage from Torrential Pump even with only Sparkling Crystal + 2 Energy. You can't shuffle 3 Energy back in, but you shuffled in at least 1, so it still counts.

Terapagos ex

Played in: Multiple decks

Targets: Anything in the 160-220 HP tier, Basic ex attackers

With Area Zero Underdepths and a full Bench of 8, Unified Beatdown does 240 damage for 2 Colorless Energy.

Terapagos ex is a solution for "toolbox" decks when the opponent tries to hide behind a high-HP, non-attacking ex like Fezandipiti ex or Latias ex while they set up. Their meatshield renders attackers that target low HP Basics like Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex or Iron Hands ex ineffective. Attackers that target Weakness may also fall short — for example, Iron Leaves ex does 180 damage, while those meatshields have 210 HP. Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex can't feasibly attack in this early/mid-game scenario either. So what do you do? You power up Terapagos ex, fill your Bench (even just 7 Benched Pokémon lets you hit 210 damage for the KO), and take down their meatshield.

Lillie's Clefairy ex (which is also commonly seen in toolbox decks to one-shot Dragons) can fulfill a similar role, but requires some help from your opponent also filling their Bench. A total of 10 Benched Pokémon in play lets it hit 220 damage.

Mew ex, Team Rocket's Mimikyu

Played in: (Mew ex: Multiple decks; TR's Mimikyu: Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex)

Targets: Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex, Flareon ex, Ceruledge ex, Charizard ex (Mew ex: Mimikyu, Crustle, Miraidon ex)

If a Pokémon hits the same HP tier that it belongs to, it's a viable target for Mew ex/TR's Mimikyu to copy. You should ask yourself if it's worth it, though, as Genome Hacking costs 3 Energy (should you not attach to your other attackers instead?), and you're telegraphing your intentions if you start attaching to Mew. TR's Mimikyu can only copy Tera attacks, but only needs a single (TR's Energy) attachment to attack.

Mew ex can hit three walls with their own attacks. Mimikyu's attack isn't damage, and Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex's and Crustle's attacks ignore effects.

If an opposing Charizard ex goes down to 1 Prize, a copied Burning Darkness will 1HKO it.

If you have Lillie's Clefairy ex on your Bench, copying Dragapult ex's Phantom Dive 1HKOs it and spreads 60 to their Bench.

Mew ex can copy Wugtrio's Undersea Tunnel to give the mill deck a taste of its own medicine. This is actually a viable strategy, as if you play for mill instead of Prizes, their Reversal Energy will only provide 1 Colorless, and they have a limited number of Ignition Energy to work with.

Roaring Moon ex

Played in: Armarouge Box, Blissey ex, Roaring Moon (both the Pecharunt donk and Dudunsparce builds)

Targets: Walls, Gardevoir ex

A catch-all answer for walls. Walls don't prevent effects of attacks, so Frenzied Gouging will bypass their immunities and KO them if they don't have Mist Energy attached. Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex is not even safe from Calamity Storm, since Roaring Moon ex has no Ability.

Scizor, Gholdengo

Played in: Gholdengo ex

Targets: Crustle

These can damage Crustle while surviving Superb Scissors in return. (Superb Scissors ignores effects, but not Resistance!) Getting 3 Energy onto Gholdengo for Surf Back is also a realistic plan, but you have to commit the 2nd Energy onto Gholdengo before they use Superb Scissors on it.

Koraidon, Slither Wing

Played in: Raging Bolt ex

Targets: Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex, Fezandipiti ex, Terapagos ex, (Slither Wing: Pikachu ex; Koraidon: Crustle)

Slither Wing's Burn finishes Pikachu ex off after Resolute Heart. Koraidon's Unrelenting Onslaught 1HKOs Crustle as long as it doesn't have Luxurious/Hero's Cape attached.

Chi-Yu

Played in: Charizard ex (with Dragapult ex or Pidgeot ex), Armarouge Box

Targets: Gholdengo ex, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex

Note that Gholdengo ex can survive Megafire of Envy if it has Rigid Band or Full Metal Lab.

Galvantula

Played in: Joltik Box

Targets: Charizard ex, Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex, N's Zoroark ex

Hits for the same damage and Weakness as Iron Leaves ex, but its attack costs less Energy, and it's a 1-Prizer.

N's Darmanitan

Played in: N's Zoroark ex

Targets: Evolving Basics/Stage 1s, Gholdengo ex, Ceruledge ex

Can attack on its own with Reversal Energy, instead of letting N's Zoroark ex copy its attacks. Back Draft (from N's Darmanitan itself, hitting for Weakness) 1HKOs Gholdengo ex if its owner has 5 Basic Energy in their discard pile.

Back Draft (copied or not) also 1HKOs Ceruledge ex if its owner has 9 Basic Energy in their discard pile.

Cynthia's Spiritomb

Played in: Cynthia's Garchomp ex

Targets: Anything

With Cynthia's Power Weight, her Garchomp ex reaches a tanky 400 HP, and most attacks won't 1HKO it. After taking a hit, it can retreat for free to Cynthia's Spiritomb, who will basically reflect the damage (+30 if you have Cynthia's Roserade).

Ethan's Pichu

Played in: Charizard ex, Miraidon ex

Targets: Budew, Cleffa, Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex

Ethan's Pichu takes on the role of Tyrogue from Neo and HS Block, bullying other Baby Pokémon with an attack that does exactly enough damage to KO them. It costs 0 Energy, and draws you a card for even more value.

Dusknoir + Maximum Belt support allows Ethan's Pichu to KO Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex.

Pidgeot ex

Played in: Charizard ex

Targets: Dipplin

Pidgeot ex becomes a crucial attacker for Charizard ex in the Festival Lead matchup. It isn't KOed by two Do the Waves, even with Brave Bangle, and it takes out Dipplin along with Festival Grounds in one attack.

Dudunsparce ex

Played in: Decks that play Dudunsparce

Targets: Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex, Raging Bolt ex

A possible secondary attacker for decks that play the Dudunsparce draw engine. It hits Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex and avoids the KO on the swing back (because Demolish ignores Weakness!).

Gholdengo ex used to play it, until Genesect ex replaced Dudunsparce as the preferred engine.

Bombirdier ex

Played in: N's Zoroark ex

Targets: Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex

N's Zoroark ex lacks ways to damage Conerstone Mask Ogerpon ex effectively unless they use this card. Powerglass accelerates Energy for Shadowy Wind, which takes off more than half of Ogerpon ex's HP, and bounces Bombirdier ex so it won't be KOed by a second Demolish.

Armarouge Box Attackers

This deck has a few preferences for its attackers:

Must be Basic, for Prism Energy.
Attacks cost 3 Energy, with at most 1 non-Colorless/Fire Energy in the cost. This way, manually attaching Prism Energy, followed by attaching 2 Fire to Ethan's Ho-Oh ex and transferring them with Armarouge pays for them.

Weakness Hitters

Some of these have been mentioned previously.

Unfortunately, there is no Darkness-type Basic Pokémon with an attack that costs {D}{C}{C} and hits for at least 160 damage unconditionally to KO Gardevoir ex after Weakness. The closest you'll get is attacks that cost {D}{D}{C}.

Slowking "Attackers"

Slowking's Seek Inspiration lets it copy an attack from a non-Rule Box Pokémon. With the right setup, you can use powerful, often expensive attacks for {P}{C}:
