Effects that let you take more Prizes offer a way to stick to your Prize map. If your map is 2-2-2 and your opponent suddenly throws a 1-Prizer in front of you, you could Boss in a 2-Prizer... or you could use an effect that lets you take an extra Prize, turning that 1-Prizer into a 2-Prizer and keeping you on track.
These effects are not all that common, so only certain decks will have access to them.
Note that most extra/fewer Prize effects only work if the Pokémon is KOed by damage from attacks. Not effects, not Abilities, not Special Conditions. (In contrast, the Pokémon ex rule applies no matter how the Pokémon is KOed.)
Amp You Very Much does enough damage to KO most non-attacking 1-Prizers, rendering them ineffective as roadblocks.
Squawkabilly ex is weak to Lightning, making it a very juicy target to Boss out and Amp for 3 Prizes. Pidgeot ex is in a similar boat, but Amp doesn't 1HKO unless you have Future Booster Energy Capsule. Nonetheless, Arm Press will 1HKO Pidgeot ex for 2 Prizes.
Played in Joltik Box and Miraidon ex. Against decks with evolving Basics, Iron Hands ex is the preferred first attacker, aiming to take Prizes rapidly and disrupt the opponent's setup by KOing their Basics/Stage 1s. To this end, those decks will run 4 Boss's Orders: early-game, they can Boss in evolving Pokémon and KO them before they become a threat, and late-game (attacking with a different Pokémon, not Iron Hands ex), they can Boss in low HP 2-Prizer Bench-sitters to close out the game.
The conditions for activating this are quite restrictive, but when everything comes together, Briar can steal games much in the same way as Boss.
Since Briar takes up your Supporter for the turn, you'll need Counter Catcher if you want to force something in.
Note that Briar only works with attacks from Tera Pokémon.
Played in Flareon ex and Charizard ex, with Noctowl or Pidgeot to search it out. In Charizard ex, Dusknoir can be used to feed your opponent a Prize if they're at 3 so you can play Briar. If they are at 2, you can play Briar first, then pop Dusknoir to trade with a 1-Prizer or set up a KO on a high-HP 2-Prizer (Briar's effect doesn't disappear if your opponent drops down to 1 Prize!). You can even win the game from a 4-2 deficit this way! (Play Briar, pop Dusknoir to KO a 1-Prizer, dropping to 3-1, then KO a 2-Prizer with your Charizard ex's attack to win 0-1.)
This gives the extra Prize effect to your opponent, but provides a huge 100 HP boost for your Pokémon.
Two decks want it:
In older builds of Dragapult ex that don't use Jamming Tower, it helps protect Dreepy/Drakloak against Bench snipes. If they evolve into Dragapult ex, Luxurious Cape becomes blank (losing both the +100 HP and extra Prize effects), since Dragapult ex is a Rule Box Pokémon.
Budew can also have Luxurious Cape attached to it when facing off against other Budews. If both players are attacking with Budew, but your Budew has more HP, you'll KO the opponent's Budew and lift the Item lock on yourself first.
In Crustle, it attaches to the namesake Pokémon. It buys you a turn (and hence a counterattack) against Pokémon that can damage Crustle. If it keeps Crustle from getting KOed, the extra Prize never materializes.
Wonder Kiss improves a few Prize maps:
If you go 1-2-2 in any order, you need to flip heads at least once in 3 flips (87.5% chance) to win by the 3rd KO.
Against a 1-Prizer deck, you need to flip heads at least twice in 4 flips (68.75% chance) to win by the 4th KO.
The above assumes you're able to get Togekiss on the board by the time you're attacking and KOing opposing Pokémon. If you're not (e.g. due to one of the pieces in Togekiss's Evolution line being Prized), you'll have fewer flips to work with.
Wonder Kiss works regardless of how the opponent's Pokémon is KOed, but it has to be their Active.
You can get Chansey into a known location in your Prizes, so you can pick it up later for the chance at an extra Prize. First get a Redeemable Ticket into your hand, then play Ciphermaniac's Codebreaking or Academy at Night to put Chansey on top of your deck from your deck or hand. (If you have a draw 1 effect, you can use one Ciphermaniac's Codebreaking to achieve everything at once, putting Ticket followed by Chansey on top, then drawing only Ticket.) Play Redeemable Ticket, which will put the Chansey on top of your deck down as a Prize. Remember where the Chansey is; Redeemable Ticket doesn't tell you to shuffle your Prizes, so the Chansey will be wherever you placed it.
This combo is an option for Gholdengo ex: it already plays Ciphermaniac's Codebreaking because of its synergy with Coin Bonus, and Redeemable Ticket can get Energy Search Pro out of the Prizes.
An unconditional rainbow Energy with a take-fewer-Prizes effect. If your deck's attackers are all 2-Prizers (and you would lose after your third attacker gets KOed), Legacy Energy lets you throw a fourth attacker at your opponent.
It seems the designers learned from Life Dew, and made it so the effect would only apply once per game. Good on them.
A Darkness-type attacker that gives up only 1 Prize if you have Pecharunt ex.
Played in Armarouge Box to one-shot Gardevoir ex.
This can be attached to Lillie's Clefairy ex to make it give up only 1 Prize.
This card only saw significant play after G Regulation Mark had rotated, in the anti-Dragapult ex deck (that notably won NAIC 2026) with 4 Lillie's Clefairy as its main attacker.
