BE BETTER THAN THE BEST!

My name is Durgham Darwazeh, and I have a story that I would like to share with you. 

My journey in the hospitality sector began humbly in 2000 when I started as a public cleaner in a fast food restaurant. This seemingly basic job became a platform for my personal growth and resilience. As a public areas cleaner, one of my responsibilities was to clean and sanitize about 20 outdoor dining tables every thirty minutes. What could have been a monotonous task, I transformed into a personal challenge.

I set a goal to clean each table in 20 seconds, gradually reducing the time by 5 seconds each week until I could clean each table in just 10 seconds. This required a precise technique: one hand holding the towel and the other the sanitizer dispenser, moving with robotic precision to cover every corner. Despite the curious and often amused stares from onlookers, I remained focused on my target.

One pivotal day, I was tasked with cleaning both indoor and outdoor tables to prepare for a special group of guests. I managed to clean nearly 50 tables within 10 minutes. To my surprise, my manager called me to the front door of the restaurant. There, all the employees, including the regional manager, were gathered, applauding my effort. In that moment, I was presented with a ribbon that read, "Better than the Best."

This experience taught me the value of dedication, innovation, and the power of turning everyday tasks into opportunities for excellence. It was a defining moment that set the tone for my career in the hospitality industry, reminding me that greatness often starts with the simplest of beginnings.
