5th Sunvoice - Apricus
Apricus is a Latin word meaning having lots of sunshine.
In the early 70's to 80’s, the circle of Chinese music was left in the dark because this industry was relatively small and not well-known internationally. There were only very few musicians inside this circle and Chinese musicians were known as a job that could only earn very little in those times. This misleading concept was spread widely and it prevented the dreams of many who wished to be a Chinese musician at that time.
However, this did not stop the precursors of Chinese music in continuing their legacies of spreading Chinese music cultures. The precursors were just like the Sun that burned up themselves to light up the dark music circle as bright as possible. They had been under intense pressure and doubt, but they persisted in their dreams to popularize Chinese music. As soon as they became more well-known, the circle became brighter. They successfully proved that as long as they persevered, they would surely succeed.
Due to their unremitting efforts, those who wanted to become a Chinese musician saw the light of hope in achieving their dream. As a result, more and more musicians started to enter the circle. They burned up themselves like the Sun and produced awesome and meaningful songs just like the sunshine that warms people’s hearts through their songs. Until now, the Chinese music circle was in Apricus, because many dream chasers entered into the circle to brighten up the music circle through toiling efforts to popularize their songs.
<Apricus> attains the modern Chinese music circle, it becomes the role model of the people and their emotion entrustment. The success comes from their determination of chasing their dreams. Music as life, it always aligns with the times. Dream chasers express their feelings through lyrics, intensifying their emotions through the melody just like the sun that spreads its love through the sunlight.
The SunVoice 5 aims to promote the enchantment of Chinese music to more people. In addition, we also hope that those who are chasing their dreams will continue their paths until they achieve it. As decades have passed by, people's preference and opinions changed inevitably.
Therefore, we would experience the same virulent struggle to adapt to the changes occurring around us, similar to those singers in the 70s and 80s. However, they managed to overcome it through their confidence and believing in themselves; they faced the obstacles without any reluctance and fear; they held strong beliefs and optimism for the future. Eventually, people with determinism and passion belong to success.
September 2020
<The Hungry Ghost Festival>
On 11th September 2020, SUCCS had organised some station games with the theme of <Hungry Ghost Festival> as orientation day. The event started with a small treasure hunt. After that committee is separated into different teams, an introduction of the insider game was presented by the host. Each committee had their specific character in their own teams. Members had to find out the truth according to the clues given by the committees in each station. After going through all of the stations, members were required to discover who is the insider in groups. The group that had the most accurate findings won the game. Through this game, critical thinking skills and acting skills of members were improved.
October 2020
<The Mid-Autumn Festival>
On 16th October 2020, SUCCS had organised a member gathering with the theme of Mid-Autumn Festival. That night, there were about 25 members who had joined this event. This event not only wanted to improve the relationships between committees and members, it also provided an intimate platform for members to learn more about the history and story of Mid-Autumn Festival. This event began with the small ice-breaking games and then went along with “Werewolf and Villagers”. Members were divided into teams and were assigned with different characters in the game. Then, each team had to cooperate to find who the werewolf was to win the game. There is no mark allocated along this event and it is entirely online due to the pandemic of Covid-19. The atmosphere during that night was literally warm and lively. SUCCS also organised guess the riddles to match with the theme. Mooncake that is sponsored by 7 Daily Fresh is given out to members who win in riddle guesses. The atmosphere during that night was literally warm and lively.
November 2020
<Fate>
SUCCS has organized a themed members online gathering on 13th November 2020. The purpose of this fellowship gathering was to allow members to assimilate with like-minded friends and meet different individuals from different social circles. As such, the executive committee has designed several games for new members to allow them to understand each other better. We hoped that these games would allow members to have garner better cooperation and trust between members. At the same time, committees of SUCCS have developed new ways to enhance members' communication experience through the 'Private Chat' session. Lastly, we ended this harmonious and joyful members gathering day with a delightful group photo.

<Mow Mow Year>
SUCCS has organized a themed members online gathering on 5th May 2021. The purpose of this gathering was to allow members to learn Chinese Story of Nian through playing different station games. At the end of the gathering, we ended this harmonious and joyful members gathering day with a delightful group photo.
The live show of <Resonance> is a new activity planned by the committees of Sunway University Chinese Cultural Society. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the committees would like to change the interaction method with members from physical to online platforms, which is through Facebook Live. Therefore, <Resonance> will be broadcasted through the members’ group on Facebook once a month as a member gathering. Explicitly, <Resonance> will be divided into three sessions, each session will run for an hour. The first session of the show is named <Culture Podcast>, which aims to share deeper information on Chinese cultures so members can gain more knowledge on the subject. <Let’s Heppi!> is the second session in this live show, members are given the opportunity to release their stress during this session as they can share about any news or knowledge that they find interesting. For the last session in this show – <It’s Soul-Time!>, this session will allow members and committees to voice out their thoughts or concerns daringly. Overall, <Resonance> is a relaxing platform created by the committees primarily for members.

<Resonance> Premiere
On 22th August 2020, SUCCS started the first live show run “Resonance” on its Facebook pages. The live show of "Resonance" is a new activity planned by the committees of Sunway University Chinese Cultural Society. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the committees would like to change the interaction method with members from physical to online platforms, which is through Facebook Live. Therefore, “Resonance” will be broadcasted through the members’ group on Facebook once a month as a member gathering. <Resonance | Be Consistent>
On 28th August 2020, SUCCS organised a live show through its Facebook page with the theme of <Be Consistent> for the first chapter of <Resonance>. In this era that is full of changes, we hope that everyone can keep to their original intention or aspiration, and possess an unswerving determination to their pursuit. Just like we (SUCCS), regardless of facing how many hurdles, we always uphold the spirit of inheriting Chinese cultures in organising various small or large-scale events, in order to achieve the purpose of inheritance. The first session of the show is named as <Culture Podcast>, aiming to share Chinese idioms so that members can gain more knowledge and insights regarding the subject matter. <Let's Heppi!> is the second section in the live show, where committees will share knowledge on animals from the Chinese Zodiac so that members can have a deep understanding of their own zodiac while enjoying this session. The last session was named as <It's Soul-Time>. This session allows members or committees to voice their thoughts or stories wholeheartedly revolving around the theme of “Motivation”. Moreover, there will also be an activity where letters written by members will be shared and read out in every session.

<Resonance | Gained From Listening>
On 25th September 2020, SUCCS organised a live show with the theme of <Gain From Listening> for the second chapter of <Resonance> and will be broadcasted through the member's Facebook Group. Members can receive a lot of useful information through listening to every live show. Also, all shows prepared by us in <Resonance> are specifically designed for audiences because all of you are our treasures. Explicitly, <Resonance> will be divided into three sessions, each session will run for an hour. For <Culture Podcast> this time, we will share information and knowledge regarding the Hungry Ghost Festival. Then, in <Let’s Heppi!>, we will share about the cultures originated in Malaysia. Last but not least, in <It’s Soul-Time!>, we will share stories about growth and also read the letters sent by you all.

<Resonance | Welcomed to Listen>
On 30th October 2020, SUCCS organised a live show via Facebook with the theme of <Welcomed to Listen>. This third chapter is regarding “listening”. A good listener will maintain positive vitality when interacting with the speaker, and will try to avoid negative critical words, creating positive vibes mood, allowing others to talk and share without any worries, and build confidence from it! The art of listening when practiced properly, leads to the improvement of a person’s ability to communicate effectively in everyday life. For <Culture Podcast> this time, we will share information and knowledge regarding the Mid-Autumn Festival. Then, in <Let’s Heppi!>, we will share about the cultures of Malaysian Chinese Language with different slangs and tones used. Last but not least, in <It’s Soul-Time!>, we will allow members or committees to voice their thoughts or stories wholeheartedly revolving around the theme of “Stress”. Moreover, there will also be an activity where letters written by members will be shared and read out in every session.

<Resonance | Apricity of Winter>
On 23th December 2020, SUCCS had its fourth chapter of <Resonance> revealed, themed <Apricity of Winter>, which will be broadcasted via members’ group on Facebook. The live show will be divided into three sessions, with each session running for an hour. The first session of the show is named as <Culture Podcast>, aiming to share the story of Winter Solstice so that members can gain more knowledge and insights regarding the history of this festival. <Let's Heppi!> is the second section in the live show, where committees will share knowledge on glutinous rice balls with different tastes and the process of making so that members can have a deep understanding of it while enjoying this session. The last session was named as <It's Soul-Time>. This session allows members or committees to voice their thoughts or stories wholeheartedly revolving around the Winter Solstice Festival. Moreover, there will also be an activity where letters and Winter Solstice wishes written by members will be shared and read out in every session.
