• The top 32 contestants will be randomly assigned by the main organiser into a group of two. The two contestants in each group will face off against each other.

  • Contestants are required to perform a song related to the theme of ‘Dream, Pursue and Express’. Performance must be recorded in video form.

  • The lyrics of the song chosen by the contestants must contain at least 80% Chinese words or Chinese dialects and must not contain violence, sex, politics, discriminations, religions and other inappropriate contents.

  • Contestants are required to perform the song within 5 minutes. Soundtrack and background music will be allowed. However, the main organiser will not be responsible for any issues or errors related to the contestant's soundtrack or background music.

  • The initial part of the video must include the contestant’s self-introduction (name in Chinese and English, age, and the name of the university that they are studying in) and an explanation of why the song was chosen as well as how it fits into the theme of ‘Dream, Pursue and Express’.

  • Contestants are required to upload the recorded video to the designated Google Form made by the main organiser and fill in the relevant information.

  • Contestants can start to upload their video on 22/2/2021, and the deadline is on 28/2/2021, at 11:59 pm.

  • If contestants fail to upload the video within the given timeframe, the main organiser reserves the right to disqualify the contestants from participating.

  • The judges will evaluate and rate the two contestants in each group.

  • Contestant with the higher score in each group will then proceed to the Semi-final of The SunVoice 5.

  • Only 16 contestants from the Knockout Round of 32 will be selected to proceed to the Semi-final.

  • The results will be announced by the main organiser on the Facebook live broadcast platform, which is expected to be on 6/3/2021.

  • During the Facebook live, the main organiser will draw lots for the 16 contestants to determine their genre of song (pop song, rock song or folk song) to be performed in the Semi-final of The SunVoice 5.
